Ergonomics for Knitters & Potters Alike

It might seem odd recommending a book for knitters, but this tome provides LOADS of great information for anyone who works with their hands, fingers, arms, etc., and often bent over. The author, Carson Demers, is a fiber artist and a physical therapist who specializes in ergonomics. [be sure to check out the excellent author photo on the back with his pup!].

At 250 pages (!!) the book offers anatomical explanations and illustrations, review of posture options and repetitive stress issues, considerations for working at your desk or carrying heavy bags, as well as sections on early intervention and self-care, including stretches, strengthening, and cardiovascular exercises. And a LOT more, plus tons of photos—love visuals!

The knowledge packed in this book sets up a great basis for understanding how the body works in specialized tasks and the strain that can cause. So even though it’s not for potters, it’s highly recommended. And if you’re a knitter AND a potter, then it’s a win-win!

The book is available directly from the publisher. Or convince your library to get it, because libraries + knitters & potters = love.
